Eastbrook Homes awarded the 2010 Energy Star® Leadership Award

Grand Rapids- Eastbrook Homes is pleased to announce recognition by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with a 2010 ENERGY STAR leadership in housing award.

Eastbrook is the leading Energy Star builder in the State of Michigan, and has built three times more Energy Star homes than any other Michigan builder. The EPA stated that last year, with the efforts of Energy Star and its builder partners, American saved $19 billion on their utility bills and avoided greenhouse gas emission equivalent to those of 29 million vehicles.

“Eastbrook is proud to be recognized for this effort, but in our mind it is simply doing the right thing. Our heritage is founded on quality and innovation. The award is nice, but what is most gratifying is knowing that our customers save money on their energy bills. That is something they feel every month.” said CEO Mick McGraw.

Eastbrook Homes continues aggressive investment in West Michigan

PRESS RELEASE

Eastbrook Homes continues aggressive investment in West Michigan

The current ills associated with the housing market have resulted in many homebuilders getting out of the business altogether and several others severely curtailing their efforts. Not so at Eastbrook Homes here in West Michigan where optimism for the future is supported by more than 40 years of successful homebuilding experience. When March sales came in significantly higher than expected, their enthusiasm was further bolstered.

As one of West Michigan’s premier homebuilders, Eastbrook Homes has felt the pinch of the housing price slide as much as any organization. But even with a significant drop in sales for 2009, company president Mick McGraw is buoyed with enthusiasm for the future. “We’ve recently acquired properties and communities in West Michigan, Lansing and Auburn, Alabama,” he reports. “Those acquisitions are in addition to our already significant inventory in West Michigan and Lansing plus our raw land ready for development. There’s no secret about why we feel the way we do,” he says. “Our optimism for the future of the housing market stems from the fact that we believe in the economy and in the people of West Michigan and Alabama to bounce back from these difficult times. And for home buyers to recognize unprecedented value when they see it.”

Eastbrook’s VP of Sales & Marketing, Bob Sorensen, sees a silver lining in the form of long-term benefits to Eastbrook and its customers from the current recession. “While the market has been contracting over the past two years, we’ve adapted by becoming even more efficient in our operations. So, not only have we benefitted by learning new, more productive methods, we’ve been able to pass along the savings we’ve realized to our customers,” he states.

Those savings, along with government stimulus funds in the form of tax credits, have made this one of the best times in history to purchase a home. “When you combine housing prices that are at an all-time low relative to value, and the current low mortgage interest rates, and the availability of government stimulus money, you’ve got a perfect storm of attractive incentives for anyone considering a home purchase,” points out McGraw. “We won’t see this kind of value convergence again in our lifetime.”
